Job Description: The purpose of the renewable energy internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in political science, law, environmental policy, or a similar field. Interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.
Responsibilities:
  • Supports all activities associated with government and regulatory engagement at the state and federal level required to advance company goals and support development and construction of new renewable generation projects
  • Assists with research of relevant laws and regulations in states in which the company is evaluating potential investments, acquisitions and other business activities
  • Develops and maintains reports, summaries and presentations of relevant legislative and regulatory proceedings and prepares material to support the president and CEO's engagements with key state and federal policymakers
  • Attends briefings, workshops and hearings on issues that could impact the business
  • Assists in the preparation of regulatory filings, formal comments and other activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance and engagement
  • Analyze existing laws and regulations; provide summary of information to development team on analysis
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in political science, law, environmental policy or related field
  • Prior utility or energy industry experience helpful but not required
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective project management skills
  • Effective analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen
